Fit for School Inc. (FIT) is a Philippine Non-Governmental Organization that works closely with the health and education sectors, various development agencies and private partners on effective school health programs. It offers information, technical assistance and a high-level network to support the institutionalization of school health programs.
Misamis Oriental (CDO) (Northern Mindanao) - Cagayan de Oro City
Position Purpose:
- Primarily responsible for research and development, including the pilot testing of simple and sustainable water and sanitation solutions for Public Elementary Schools in support of the Essential Health Care Program (EHCP). The Coordinator is expected to identify innovations for functional water and sanitation facilities and make them replicable on large scale.
- Orient Fit for School project officers and staff on WATSAN issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Effectively plan, develop and implement strategies for Fit for School programs in the areas of water and sanitation that are congruent with the organization’s vision and mission.
- Develop and test low-cost water sanitation installation models and activities related to ‘school led total sanitation’
- Promote access to water, support communities respective installation and upgrade of washing facilities and sanitation solutions
- Develop and institutionalize intersectoral collaboration between the health, education and water/sanitation sectors, including strengthening of partnerships in the area of sanitation
- Operational Support
- Assist the Directors in the planning of activities related to water and sanitation
- Facilitate meetings, consultations, briefings, program orientations and awareness activities
- Prepare periodic reports, use the Task Management System, and maintain data files, photos, news clips and other documentation by preparing tables, forms and matrix
- Provide technical assistance in literature reviews, data banking, data analysis, research studies and surveys, when needed.
- Periodic visits to the schools in the divisions to monitor progress of implementation and to identify issues and concerns in the field.
- Write correspondence, briefing documents, reports, articles and stories related to the water and sanitation aspects of the program.
- Develop and maintain good work relations with other members of the staff, program partners and/or counterparts in accordance to work plans.
- Share experience, knowledge and skills with other staff in relation to assigned tasks.
- Prepare training plan, itinerary, travel arrangements; cash advance liquidation and related reports within the prescribed submission period.
- Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Performs other assignments, as assigned to by immediate supervisors.
Requirements:
- College Graduate, Bachelor’s degree preferably in a course related to water and sanitation
- At least three (3) years experience as a WASH Engineer/Officer/Specialist
- Strong human relations abilities
- Good verbal and written communication skills (English and Filipino)
- Good persuasive skills
- Ability to use common office software applications (MS Office-Word, Excel, Powerpoint; Adobe Acrobat, etc.) and to use the internet
- Team Player
- Willing to travel within the area of FFS Operations, and report to both the Cagayan de Oro or Manila office when needed
